When I was pregnant with Brielle I read somewhere that children that have not only Mom's but their Dad's read to them do better in school. If you think about it most the times its us Moms that work on homework and read to our children. We read a lot in our family and I always make it a point to read books in front of my kids. I casually mentioned my statistics to TJ and from then on he always reads each kid a book the nights he is home. I never asked him to do it he just does, he is even better at it then me. He really gets into it with the voices and and actions. Tonight I came home a dinner party and he was reading to the girls. It made me smile. I am so thankful for my cute little family

Soccer Party!

We had a pizza party for our team since the last game is on Saturday. We ate pizza, breadtwists, and oreo shakes and of course a soccer ball cake! These girls became such good friends and have tons of fun together. We are so sad to see the season end but these friendships will last long after the season I am sure! Go Blue Sharks!

Hunter and Brielle's biggest fan!

Sophie is such a good sport, since she was born she has been carted around to all sorts of events and she is so good about it. Just make sure there is enough treats and her binkie and she is a happy camper. I think after watching hundreds of games she has picked up a thing or two... she can dribble the ball better than I can! She follows the don't cross the white line rule most the time and loves half-time so she can run around with the ball and eat oranges. Today during half time she dribbled the ball down the field and then picked it up and threw it in the goal and started giggling, it was so cute! She is their teams biggest fan, she loves a team members sisters chair and if she isn't sitting in it runs over and sits down and always claps and yells "GO" "Yeah" "Ball" she is such a great little sister and I bet she can't wait until she is old enough to really play.

Date night!

Tj won tickets to Tuacahn to see Peter Brienholt and Ryan Shupe and the Rubberbands! We got there and smelled the yummy cinnamon sugar nuts and just had to get some. I ordered a cashew and pecan to share, but as I was coming out with our order I look around for TJ and see him with the nuts too! We got 4 for the price of 2, whoo-hoo! It was a great night and we had a ton of fun, snuggling and listening to some great live music. I'm not a huge fan of Peter Brienholt but he is a great musican. Ryan Shupe and the Rubberbands however are great! On our way home from picking up the kids Hunter asked how are date went and we said it was fun and he asked if Dad opened my door and bought me a drink. I laughed, I guess that's what a date is huh?

Hunter is now done with soccer, he had a great season and learned so much! We love watching him play and we are so proud of him as a team player! You're tough like bull not weak like sheep Hunter!

Thankful

I am thankful for an empty storage bin that kept Hunter and Sophie busy so I could finish editing pictures!

Busy Veterans Day

First off THANK YOU to all the Men and Women who keep us safe! Happy Veterans Day.
What a day for our family. I woke up at 5am and got ready for my long trek up north for my Granny's funeral and then turned around and drove right back home. It was a great service though and I am really glad I was able to make it, I learned even more amazing things about my great great Grandma. She truly was an amazing women and I am going to miss her so much. I am thankful for all the life lessons I will carry on from her and all our fun memories. Thank you Uncle Lee and Uncle Doug, there are no words to express how much gratitude I have, love you guys so much, see you on game day! I didn't take any pictures with my camera until right before heading home so I look like death from being up so early and crying all day but these will have to do until I get ahold of my Dads pictures!




Hunter had his last football game and didn't want to miss it so TJ being the great Dad he is and his Mom being the great Grandma she is took over while I was up north. Hunter had a great game and made 2 touchdowns by running the whole length of the field both times, and as usual was awesome on defense and grabbin those flags! He is so fast and it was so much fun watching him play this season. I loved every minute of it!





It was also our niece Halle's 2nd birthday! I wish I could have been there but the rest of our clan had a blast! Happy Birthday Halle, we sure love you lots! And wow my kids looked like orphans, totally not my fault! :)

Granny Bennion

MARION BENNION Aka Granny :)

Marion Sears Bennion "We Sure Had Fun" Our beloved mother Marion Sears Bennion, passed away November 6, 2009 surrounded by loving family. She was born in Salt Lake City October 15, 1915, a daughter of Milton Henry and Ida May Racine Sears. She married Oscar C. Bennion February 18, 1935; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom's early life was spent in the Sugarhouse area, attending school and enjoying her many friends there. She graduated from West High. After marrying Oscar C. Bennion, her life became happily centered in Taylorsville, living in the home she loved for over 65 years. She loved her home and being very independent. She reshingled the roof at age 60 by herself and kept her home in immaculate condition at all times with spring, summer, fall and winter deep cleanings because that was what her mother taught her when they had dirty coal furnaces. The early years of our parents life was spent dancing at the famous Ballrooms in Salt Lake City; even winning a new Studebaker car at the old Avalon. They had a very close group of friends and neighbors that enjoyed many activities together on a very small budget due to the depression. Dad introduced mom to the love of horses and they both participated in the Ute Ranger Riding Club for many years. Those early years recovering from the depression are where mom came up with the phrase, "We had Fun!" which she had engraved on their headstone. After Oscar passed away, mom loved traveling with friends and family, visiting many countries of the world. For her first trip to Europe she tore down the old barn and sold the wood to decorators to finance her trip. She was a talented seamstress and upholsterer; her masterwork graces many homes to this date. Her work is shown in The Taylorsville Historical Museum. Many Taylorsville brides still have the beautiful wedding dresses she custom created for them. She costumed many Ward Road Shows over the years. She hated to cook; many times saying if she could hammer, saw, or chisel food she might take up cooking. With this said, the family always looked forward to her famous Christmas muffins that no one can duplicate. She is survived by her three children, Kay and Duane Gerrard, Lee and Douglas Hunter, Kelly and Patricia; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, one brother, her husband, and an infant son. Grave side services will be held Wednesday, 12 noon, at the Taylorsville Cemetery, 4575 South Redwood Road. Arrangements directed by McDougal Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank Hospice for Utah for their thoughtful, loving care during our mother's illness.

We sure are going to miss our spunky Granny but we are so thankful she is in a better place, love you Granny!

Halloween 09

Sophie totally understood trick-r-treating this year, she would jump out of the stroller, sometimes grabbed her bag, walked up and knock on the door, and sometimes tried to open the door! A few times she said "Trit-Tret" but she always said "Thank You" she had to keep the candy in her hands instead of put it in her bag and when she got to the next house would double fist the candy. She screamed at me every time I put it in her bag. Hunter and Brielle were pro's this year, but as usual the kids liked scaring people with Grandpa instead of trick-r-treating and Sophie loved it too! She followed him around as he scared the kids and would laugh. Hunter was the look out for small kids and Brielle passed out the goodies. We didn't have tons of kids this year so after awhile my parents took the kids back out to gather goodies. We ended Halloween watching a scary movie and cuddling on the couch and answered the door to a few late trick-r-treaters. I am always left with mixed emotions about the end of October, really sad its over but exhausted!
