First day of 2nd grade

Where does the time go, seriously! Second grade, he can't be that old already can he? Hunter wanted to ride with his friends to school but I told him he is my first born so I will take him on his first day until high school and even then I still might :) We brought his bike so he could ride home though! When we got into his classroom my eyes started tearing up and he said "Mom, not now! I will be home after 3:30pm!" You think he would be use to his cry baby Mom by now :) At back to school night his teacher Ms. Lambert said he was quite the jokester and could tell he would make the class so much fun. Here's to another school year, hope it's a good one!

Piano lessons

One of the things I will make all my kids do is take piano lessons, I don't care what sports or other activities they want to do but they will take lessons whether they want to or not. I took lessons for 6 years and at times hated it but now I am so glad I can sit down and play. A few months ago I found an ad on craigslist, a guy said he had an old piano and would do trade. I contacted him and he said just come and get it and bring a case of peaches. He was an older single guy and wanted a new piano, this was old and really heavy so he basically just wanted someone to haul it off. I am going to fix up of few things like taking off the glass piece but I love it!! Hunter had his first lesson today and is so lucky that his Grandma Kathy can teach him! I am just glad she teaches piano, I don't have the patients to teach him! He was so excited to go and when he came home showed us what he learned.

1 week old

Callaway is already 1 week old! Why does time seem to go by so fast after they're born? It is true what they say though, once you have 3 kids you could have 20. I don't feel overwhelmed like I did when Sophie was born, I think it's because our house is always chaotic and busy and he seems to fit right in perfectly! He eats well and sleeps great, at night he will go 3 hours and then 4 hours. We all just can't get enough of him :)

We have given him a few sponge baths and his hair cracks me up, when it's wet it curls up and he looks like a poodle, it's so cute! I don't know how he lucked out with a head full of hair since the rest of the kids were bald until they were two!

Birth Story

Saturday night we got home from a fun night BBQing and Swimming with Curt and Heather, we called it our last supper with only 3 kids. The hospital called and asked if we could come in at 10pm instead of tomorrow. I was freaking out since I thought I would have a few hours to get stuff ready and get some rest but I was all for it thinking I would have the baby in the early morning and then be able to spend the day resting. We called everyone and got everything ready to go and headed to the hospital.

They started my pitocin at 11pm, I was still 2cm and 80% effaced, I was so bummed I thought for sure I was further along than that. At 1pm I got my epidural and it was the worse experience, I told the anesthesiologist that last time they had to re-do my epi since only half my body was numb. The anesthesiologist told me next time to tell them to put it higher since I had scar tissue from the previous ones. The guy was being cocky and said there is no way I had scar tissue. He took like 20 minutes to do the epi, my whole body was shaking by the end, I was so scared something was wrong since they usually don't take so long. When he left the nurse said there must have been scar tissue because he was so fast at them most the time. I felt immediate relief but about 30 minutes later I started feeling light headed and sick so I had to get oxygen for a little while and felt much better. I probably got an hour of sleep the whole night.

My Dr came in at 6pm to break my water I was 4cm and 90% effaced, so discouraging. We called everyone to start coming in because I thought for sure since he broke my water I would go fast, like I did with Sophie, NOPE!!!

My parents, TJs parents, and my friends Heather and Cecilie sat waiting for 5 hours! We had a ton of fun though laughing at Heather's stories, she is a nurse in the SICU at a hospital in Las Vegas, so she always has hilarious patients. I will never hear the word Foley again without smiling. :) We were all getting impatient, we have waited a long 39 weeks to find out what this little one was and it seems like it was taking it's sweet time and testing our patients.

Finally at about 10:30am I started really feeling pain and pressure with my contractions so I knew it was time. My Dr came in just before 11am and we got started! My contractions were really far apart and stalled for a minute, I had a hard time pushing at first, they gave me oxygen and that seemed to help, I was so exhausted being up all night. I pushed through 4 sets of contractions and the moment we have been waiting for came!

I heard TJ yell it's a boy! Everyone's eyes were looking down, it was kinda funny. I Looked down at my beautiful son with a head full of thick dark hair and lost it, I don't think there was a dry eye there. He looked perfect, they took him to make sure he was okay since his heart rate dropped and he was grey looking but he turned out to be just fine. Sometimes I hate knowing so much about medical stuff because you are laying there and can't hear what they are saying, all you can do is pray they are okay.

I will never forget this moment, I am so glad we decided not to find out, it made such a special moment even more special. I now know why we were sent this little surprise and I am so thankful he is here. He completes our family perfectly. I am also so blessed to be able to have such amazing family and friends to share this with, I love having everyone there celebrating the arrival of these sweet little babies.

We named him Callaway Kenneth, when we were pregnant with Brielle there was a Callaway in Hunter's class and we fell in love with the name, TJ and I love to golf even though I never have time to go or practice, but I am sure when we retire we both with live on the course! For our first real date we went golfing at Sunbrook, and ended up getting married there too! Kenneth is TJs Dad's name, we decided since Hunter is named after my Dad and Trenton doesn't really fit with Callaway we would name him after him.

The kids were a little Leary at first but when they came back to visit they fought about who got to hold him. We left the hospital the next day, Callaway was tongue tied but all they did was snip the tissue connecting his tongue and it was fixed, he didn't even cry! He also was in the low level of jaundice but over the course of a few days its gone down. His feet are totally flat and he has long crab toes like his daddy :) He is such a good baby, really only cries if he is hungry and eats every 3 hours. He is constantly loved 24/7.

The kids brought these for me and Callaway at the hospital :)

Sophie wanted Grandpa Bentley to hold her baby too :)

First day home

I told TJ that if it was a boy he was in charge of what he came home in since the girls both came home in the same outfit and Hunter was a winter baby, he bought 3 outfits and brought them to the hospital, think he was excited much? Things are going great! He is such a good baby and the kids cannot get enough of him! I will post the birth story as soon as I get the pictures from my friend! Here are some pictures of Callaway's journey home :)
