I am addicted, I admit it I love parties, I love planning them and surfing the web for fun ideas and then coming up with my own version. I love looking around for cheap things I can use, when Hunter said he wanted a Mad Scientist party I thought it would be impossible but I think I pulled it off with great success! You can't go out and buy things so I made almost everything. On the plus side I had most of the supplies needed and got a ton of things on sale after Halloween. Yes my kids know what kind of party they want months in advance and the rule is once they tell me they can't change their minds.
Starting with the table
I didn't have time to have them build marshmallows towers or make their own cupcakes but the table had tons of glass jars filled with candy, colored water, frozen skull, frozen brain then we added dry ice to make the water bubble and smoke. It sounded just like a lab, made me happy and the boys thought it was cool.
Also on the table I had Radioactive glow in the dark sticks and drinking straws, mad scientist glasses, crazy straws, and jello filled petri-dish for them to take home in their Biohazard bags
We had Pizza and breadtwists and Toxic waste, I was going to do sludge and had clear plastic cups marked with ML measurements to look like bleakers but last minute found the 6 pack of Orange soda in bottles for $2!!
And the cake idea was from family fun, it's suppose to be a flask but well, let's just say I suck at making cakes lol. I always find cute ones but they don't turn out at all how they are suppose to ;) I used a pvc pipe with an end cap, put it in the middle of two bunt cakes and frosted it, then we added dry ice and warm water to produce the smoke
Then the thank you notes, I filled plastic test tubes with green pop rocks and the note said "Thanks you rock!"
For the experiment's we did:
Slime, bouncy balls, balloon blow up, C02 sandwiches, lava lamps, Rocket launchers, and the big finale... Diet Coke Geysers. I also had the 2 liter bottles to do tornados but we didnt have time. I printed and laminated all the instructions for each experiment for the boys to take home.
Here are some pictures of the boys during the party.
